Good Night Out in Manchester
Get in Touch
My name is Katherine Armitage, I currently am a Law student at the University of Manchester and am very excited to be bringing the Good Night Out campaign to our city! Harassment on nights out appears to have become nothing out of the ordinary regularly leaving myself and many other women feeling threatened and intimidated. Whether it being an unwanted grope or being catcalled across the street; harassment can be emotional, verbal or suggestive and sadly many bouncers do not know how to handle these complaints.
Being a part of my University Feminist society and being surrounded by such a wonderful collective of women has really helped encourage me to take a stand against this unwanted behaviour. I am filled with confidence from the great success the campaign has already had in Cities across the UK and will do my best to ensure we follow in their footsteps.
Not only am I passionate about ensuring every Manchester clubber feel safe and harassment free on nights out but I also want to encourage clubs bars and pubs in Manchester to install confidence in their customers, that any complaints will always be taken seriously and handled correctly. Hopefully this way preventative measures can to be put in place to stop anyone else’s nights being ruined by any unwanted sexual advances.
I cannot wait to get the campaign up and running and welcome suggestions of venues, bars and pubs that would benefit from the wonderful training the Good Night Out team has devised. Watch this space Manchester!
